Exceptional terroirs

Preserved biodiversity

Maison Pommery & Associés protects exceptional terroirs and sites, each with its own specific requirements.

Champagne: a UNESCO World Heritage vineyard

Our vineyard has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015 and includes almost 20 hectares of Natura 2000. Our practices are both simple and committed: zero herbicide use and the grassing of vine rows, with particular care given to Clos Pompadour, to limit erosion, recreate micro-habitats, and encourage biodiversity.

The BEE’IODIV project builds on these earth-honouring gestures: thirty connected beehives, spread across ten sites near our vineyards, provide a home for bees—true sentinels of the living world. By observing their comings and goings, their strengths and vulnerabilities, they reveal the health of ecosystems and whisper, season after season, the profound truth of our land.

Provence: a shale amphitheatre overlooking the sea

Our remarkable terroir spans 300 hectares within a seaward-facing schist amphitheatre, blessed with a privileged microclimate.

Located on the slopes of Pierrefeu-du-Var, in the heart of the Massif des Maures, it is composed of multiple parcels and micro-terroirs, carefully tended by the Château teams to preserve the richness of the soils and express finesse, freshness, and complexity in our cuvées.

In the Camargue: 2,000 hectares classified as a Natura 2000 zone

In the heart of the Petite Camargue, home to Domaine Royal de Jarras, our estates span 2,000 hectares, all of which are classified as Natura 2000 protected areas. This exceptional terroir, recognized at the European level for the rarity and fragility of its wild species, is home to remarkable flora and fauna, with over 250 vertebrate species and more than 700 listed animal and plant species. The emblematic purebred Camargue horses, raised within the estate’s manade, also contribute to this unique balance.

Eco-grazing by around 5,000 sheep naturally maintains the soils and fosters a true mosaic of biodiversity, while part of the vineyard has been organically farmed since 2023. Here, everything is designed to ensure that the vines are fully integrated into the natural landscape and their surrounding environment.
