Terras Do Grifo
Terras do Grifo takes root in a vineyard entirely conceived and shaped on a single hillside, overlooking the Douro River and the Spanish border. This natural amphitheatre, located in the Douro Superior on either side of Barca d’Alva, lies at the heart of the Douro International Natural Park, within a cultural landscape listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
Here, the vineyard is exclusively classified A — the highest designation in the region — and benefits from a luminous exposure that reveals the true identity of the place. Here, schist reigns supreme: a fissile, free-draining rock that stores heat, regulates water and imparts a finely chiselled minerality to the wines.
. This signature intertwines with the hillside’s distinctive aromatic richness, giving rise to wines that are precise and profound, structured around an elegant backbone.
A rare distinction indeed, Quinta do Grifo crafts — from the very same plot and the same grape variety, Touriga Nacional — both expressive red wines and youthful Vintage Ports. Born of a singular terroir and the work of a master craftsman, this dual expression tells the story of one place in two voices: one free and vibrant, the other timeless and concentrated.
